Concordare Trials Raises Funding to Digitize Clinical Protocols

After a decade working across clinical research sites, sponsors, and technology vendors, Zach Sawaged, CEO and founder of Concordare Trials, has closed a new funding round for his startup.

Surface Ventures led the Investment Round

Gyan Kapur, Co-Managing Partner at Surface Ventures, emphasizes:

“By digitizing clinical trial protocols at an early point in the process, Concordare Trials has the opportunity to further digitize the entire clinical trial value chain and create value for both sponsors and sites.” “This enables trials to run faster with fewer errors, ultimately helping get life-saving treatments to patients sooner.”

Surface Ventures led the investment round with participation from Techstars, Innovation Works, Gaingels, and individual investors.

Funding Will Fuel Expansion & Growth

Concordare Trials, in an official statement, said the newly raised funding round supports product development, team expansion, and the growth of its site partnership network.

Why Clinical Trial Digitalization Matters

Despite billions in investment in software systems for clinical operations, the clinical research industry has never addressed the structural gap at the center of every study: the protocol itself. Concordare Trials says manual configuration against lengthy, non-standardized protocols costs an estimated $25 million per study.

Transforming Clinical Trial Protocols

Concordare Trials says its solution, Concordare Suite, ingests any protocol PDF and converts it into the company’s proprietary CTPM (Clinical Trial Protocol Model), a digital, system-agnostic source of truth for a trial. AI is used exclusively for protocol extraction. The CTPM is human-reviewed before generating system configurations and study documents, maintaining protocol fidelity and study integrity.

Sites apply this workflow once across studies, and end users can build downstream outputs in seconds, accelerating study activation by 6-8 weeks.

Concordare Trials is currently leading academic medical centers, with longtime partner Rutgers University leveraging the platform across multiple teams. The company is contracting with additional institutions nationwide to accelerate its expansion.

Latest Funding Activity

Digital health startups, including clinical trial software, have secured more than $15 billion in VC funding in the 1H (First half) of 2026. More recently, OmicsBank has raised $2.25 million in seed funding from Redesign Health to build next-generation clinical data infrastructure.

In another deal, QuantHealth, a provider of an AI-driven clinical trial simulation platform, has raised $45 million in a Series B round led by Qumra Capital. Founded in 2020, QuantHealth has simulated more than 600 clinical trials across 30 indications, achieving up to 90% predictive accuracy.
