Elation Health Acquires EHR Startup Aster for an Undisclosed Amount

Elation Health, a provider of an all-in-one electronic health record (EHR) software platform for primary care providers, announced its acquisition of Aster (Aster Care), an AI-powered EHR software startup.

The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Founded in 2023, Aster raised a total of $2.8 million in VC funding (to date) from Zeal Capital Partners, Cornerstone Ventures, Octopus Ventures, and others.

The latest acquisition builds on Elation Health’s broader strategy of expanding its platform beyond core clinical documentation. It follows the company’s 2023 acquisition of Lightning MD, a cloud-based medical billing and payer connectivity provider. Lightning MD supported strengthening Elation’s clinical data platform by connecting patient care workflows with billing and reimbursement infrastructure.

Elation Health is the clinical-first AI platform for modern primary care success. The company serves 50,000 clinicians caring for more than 24 million Americans, including thousands of small independent practices and large prominent digital health innovators.

In 2022, Elation Health secured $50 million in Series D funding with plans to keep investing in technology and services as they continue to rapidly scale. The company has raised more than $110 million in funding to date.

As part of the acquisition, Aster’s team, including co-founders Fifi Kara and Dr. Lailah Kara-Newton and Chief Technology Officer Nacho Vazquez, are joining Elation Health. The team built Atlas, a voice agent that automates front-office tasks for healthcare practices.

More than 5000 digital health companies have been acquired to date, according to our recent M&A Database.
