Gut health startup Tiny Health has raised $33 million in Series B funding to advance its clinical research and scale its at-home gut and vaginal microbiome test for families.
Including the latest round, Tiny Health has raised $46 million in VC funding since its founding in 2020.
B Capital led the investment round, with follow-on investment from Spero Ventures, The Venture City, and Overwater Ventures. New investors participated in the round include: Black Opal Ventures, Denver Ventures, Pave Health Ventures, Alumni Ventures, Gaingels, and Pari Passu Ventures.
Alongside the fundraise, Tiny Health announced a $5 million Microbiome Research Program that will give researchers and clinicians access to its testing, data, and research capabilities.
As part of the investment, Nick Whitehead, senior principal at B Capital, will join Tiny Health’s board of directors, the company said.
Tiny Health provides gut microbiome tests for babies, children and adults, as well as vaginal microbiome tests. Its testing uses shotgun metagenomic sequencing to identify microorganisms in a sample and provide results intended to help users and practitioners understand microbiome patterns.
“We founded Tiny Health because the science is so impactful, the need is urgent, and no one else was building for the whole lifespan,” said Cheryl Sew Hoy, CEO and Founder of Tiny Health. “What started as a solution for my own family has become the infrastructure for an entire industry. This Series B round propels microbiome science as the foundational layer for the next frontier of medicine.”
With this round, Tiny Health joins a growing list of precision health and wellness startups that have attracted millions in VC funding so far this year. More recently, Throne Science, a maker of an AI-powered smart toilet sensor that tracks gut health, hydration, and urinary function automatically with every flush, raised $10 million in a Series A round led by Will Ventures.
In another deal, Axo Longevity has closed $5 million in a seed funding round amid growing demand for its preventive health testing services.
